Free crochet loop stitch pig pattern

Mangalica Joe

The Mangalica is a Hungarian breed of domestic pig. The pig that resembles as a sheep because this pig grows a thick, curly coat of hair. There are currently three existing varieties of Mangalica, differing only by colour: "blonde", "swallow-bellied", and "red". I tried to create a "blonde" wooly, cute pig by crocheting. The finished little piglet can be used as a doorstop.

To crochet this cute pig you need:

  • yarn in black and white (100% acrylic, 50 g/ 135 m)

  • 4.0 mm crochet hook

  • 10 mm safety eyes

  • fiberfill

  • big sewing needle and scissors

  • plastic disc (Diameter 4 cm)

  • bag filled with sand (approximately 600g)

  • little grey yarn, for embroidering

The finished crochet pig is about 25 cm tall.

How to shape the hooves?

You will need a long piece of black yarn to make the hooves on the legs.

I designed the piggy hooves by pulling a black yarn through three places: the 9th row of forward-facing stitch, the 4th row of the backward-facing stitch, and the starting magic ring. I pulled the yarn tight and then repeated the process twice.

Assembly

  1. Sew the ears to the head.

  1. Pull the head tighter at the eyes to make our animal look "piggy".

  1. Sew the tail to the body.

  2. Sew the legs on as if the piggy was lying on its stomach.

  1. Embroider mouth and nostrils on the muzzle.

    Our mangalica is ready.
