Crochet Leprechaun Free pattern
Before Christmas last year, it occurred to me that it would be an interesting gift to dress the wine and beer bottles with playful figures. Contemplating the idea, I decided to also dress empty jars. In addition to being cute, they are even practical, as their empty tummy is also great for storage.
Leprechaun
This little guy is great at showing me the basic techniques and crochet patterns that can be used well - with minor changes - with other glassheads as well.
To crochet this cute creature you need:
yarn in green, glittery green, pink, orange, brown and black colours (100% acrylic, 50 g/ 135 m)
4.0 mm crochet hook
10 mm safety eyes
fiberfill
big sewing needle and scissors
empty jar with lid (Diameter: 9.5 cm, Height: 17 cm)
2 keyrings
plastic disk (Diameter: 8 cm)
The finished crochet leprechaun is about 30 cm tall.
Skill level: intermediate

Hat band

Rnd 2-3: sc in next 51 st {51}
Fasten off leaving a small tail. Hide the end.
Put the key ring on the band. Of course we can also use a real buckle instead of the key ring.
Assembly:
Sew nose on the face between Rnd 38 and Rnd 40 .
Sew eyes on the face between Rnd 41 and Rnd 43.
- Sew arms and feet to the body. Arms: Rnd 35, the last green row. Feet: Rnd 11-12. Leave 3 stitches between the feet.
- Put on the belt.
- Now you are going to make the hair and the beard. Cut the orange yarn into pieces of 18 cm. Fold the piece in half and draw the center through the stitch on the head (pink colour) with your hook. Pick up 2 strands, draw them through the loop and tighten, then trim.(I only used every second stitch when making the hair, so the finished hairstyle wouldn't be too thick.)
- To
assemble the hat we will need the jar lid, a little stuffing
material, a round plastic disc and a small piece of yarn of about 30 cm.
Place the plastic disc in the top of the hat and secure with a little
thread, this makes the top of the hat a bit more rigid. We weave the yarn into the hat at the junction of the flange
and the side of the hat, leaving enough yarn to tighten the bottom of the hat,
this will secure the hat to the jar lid. We put a little stuffing
material in the bottom of the hat as if there was a head in it,
insert the jar lid and pull the thread threaded, but only
enough to prevent the top of the jar from falling out.
They are really lovely. A very talented lady!
